five-dollar lightbulb
I bought a
five-dollar light-
bulb, was gonna replace
all my bulbs
with them
but the light
above the coffee-
maker went out
so I thought I’d just borrow
my five-dollar lightbulb for a bit
but as I went to
screw it in, it fell (I dropped it)
shattering tiny shards
all over the coffee maker
and me, standing . . . dammit!
my fuckin five dollar light bulb!

It makes me smile to read a poem about a light bulb.
So much depends upon these everyday things :)
I do so agree.
Oh you two are so frappin right.
Lemme tell ya, you are so right, that's the thing that made me more crazy, sitting in the dark.
See ya can't do anything, can't read, can't see shit, in the dark, and it gets dark at 6:00 flacken pm...Power, and light bulbs might just keep me from going over the damned edge. And I didn't even know it until the power went out.
Amen. We are so dependent on "power," and other modern-day luxuries. Preparation seems to be key in coping with such events, as you know, of course. But perhaps rather than view possibilities as possibilities, we might want to see them as inevitabilities.
Whatever the case may be, I'm sorry that you had to go through that shit and are still feeling the effects of the power outages.
I hope all is well there soon.
I'm such a whiner...but I did find out today that we, our county has been ranked a four on the disaster scale...and even I didn't realize it was THAT bad.
I will be prepared next time, if there is a next time. As soon as they restock things I'll be needing, that is...
Really though, I never realized how dependent I am on light, especially light, the dark really made my mood dismal.
xx, Lo
