Zella & Nova

over night
the cherry tree
has blossomed

it accepts
the beauty of spring

sings songs of old women
and infants, ascending into perfection

smiling in the sun: Zella & Nova

I Never Meant To

Yes
he was
simply
too bright

for us to see

We tried
but his aura
became so intense

that we looked away

and as our eyes
were opening again

he began to ascend

his earthly vessel
holding back gravity
as long as it could

and he became a supernova
extending his soul into every star
reflecting his image in the sheen of our eyes

a pond that God is looking into

But

I never meant
to love you this much

I wrote this days ago. This is not all I have to say, but, after reading Erin's blog this morning, I have to post this, or I'll never get focused today. The truth is I'm weak. But my dear friend Erin has taught me something that I don't think anyone else could, acceptance. These lessons, and there are more than one here, that this child and his mother has taught us are invaluable to the highest degree.

God?

So you say
there is a God

And I say
God is in everything

But where was he today?

"Let us remember . . . that in the end we go to poetry for one reason, so that we might more fully inhabit our lives and the world in which we live them, and that if we more fully inhabit these things, we might be less apt to destroy both." Christian Wiman, Editor of "POETRY" "Hang on to your hopes my friend; That's an easy thing to say, but if your hopes should pass away, simply pretend that you can build them again." ~ Paul Simon
