For Lori

Your Eyes

a rare kindness
I've seen in your eyes,
felt in the reflections cast

from the waters of your soul,
of your pain, of your love . . .
scattered from the surface

like light into my eyes.

oh but I see you.

clearly.

as if you were
standing
right in front of me.

a saddened kindness
rising up from the depth
in your eyes.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I know all too well
that there are no words to suffice
when someone we love passes away,
especially when that someone is our father.
These are just some of my thoughts and feelings.
I love you, Lori. You are as special as one can be.
And my soul aches for you.
    "Let us remember . . . that in the end we go to poetry for one reason, so that we might more fully inhabit our lives and the world in which we live them, and that if we more fully inhabit these things, we might be less apt to destroy both." Christian Wiman, Editor of "POETRY" "Hang on to your hopes my friend; That's an easy thing to say, but if your hopes should pass away, simply pretend that you can build them again." ~ Paul Simon
